PERICO Leon White Horse - (NA)

Porico. "White Horse." Son of Nas-tih-dah, who died at San Carlos "long ago." Mother's name not recalled. Half-brother of Fun, Tsisnah, Jozhe, and Jah-ken-ish-ishn (Black Girl; Mrs. John Allard Sr.), same father. Step-son of their mother Et-tso-hnn (Bonita). 1st cousin of Daklugie, Ahnandia, Nah-kay-godekonne, Jason Betzinez, Ellen Chachu, Geronimo's children, Sam Haozous, and Chief Naiche's 2nd wife E-clah-heh. 2nd cousin of Geronimo. Perico is said to have had several wives, but by 1886 there were only two. The younger, earlier of the two was Hah-dun-key, and the older was Bi-ya-neta Tse-dah-dilth-thlilth. Both were Warm Springs Apaches. When Geronimo, Naiche, Perico and others broke out of the San Carlos Reservation for the last time (May 1885), Perico had with him his wife Hah-dun-key, and Geronimo had with him his 6th wife Zi-yeh, their son Fenton, and his daughter Lulu by his 2nd wife Chee-hash-kish. While camped in the mountains in Old Mexico, west of Casas Grandes, they were attacked by Apache scouts under Major Wirt Davis's command (7 August 1885) and nearly all their remaining women and children were captured, including Perico's wife and Geronimo's family. Later that fall (November 1885), Perico and Geronimo returned to Fort Apache one night , and departed with several women. Among these were Bi-ya-neta Tse-dah-dilth-thlilth, whom Perico took as his wife, and Ih-tedda, whom Geronimo took as his wife. Following the conference with General Crook near San Bernardino in March 1886, Perico, Fun Tsisnah, and others stampeded back into the Sierra Madres with Geronimo. Perico and Bi-ya-neta Tse-dah-dilth-thlilth surrendered with Geronimo and Naiche and Perico's half-brothers to General Miles at Skeleton Canyon in September 1886 and were sent to Florida as prisoners-of-war. By his younger wife Hah-dun-key, Perico had 2 children: Harry born 1887, and Eloise, born 1892. Hah-dun-key died at Fort Sill 1897. By his wife Bi-ya-neta Tse-dah-dilth-thlilth, who was his last wife, Perico had 5 children: Dolly born 1887, Isabelle, born 1895, and Dora, Elmer, and Wesley who died at Fort Sill. Dolly was born at Fort Marion Florida, March 1887, 4 months before her half-brother Harry. She married Mithlo at Fort Sill in 1908, being his 4th and last wife. The remainder of the children are enumerated below. Perico was enlisted as a scout at Fort Sill along with Geronimo, Chihuahua, Naiche and others, and was made head of Perico's Village. Many of his relatives, in addition to his wife Hah-dun-key, 2 sons, and 1 daughter are buried in the Apache Cemetery. Perico was one of the last of the full-blood Bedonkohe Apaches. He has numerous descendants through his surviving children.

Perico aurait eu plusieurs femmes, mais en 1886, il n'y en avait plus que deux. Hah-dun-key, le plus jeune des deux, et Bi-ya-neta Tse-dah-dilth-thlilth, l'aîné. Tous deux étaient des Apaches de Warm Springs. Lorsque Geronimo, Naiche, Perico et d'autres quittèrent la réserve de San Carlos pour la dernière fois (mai 1885), Perico avait avec lui son épouse Hah-dun-key, et Geronimo avait avec lui sa 6e épouse Zi-yeh, leur fils. De nombreux membres de sa famille, outre son épouse Hah-dun-key, deux fils et une fille sont inhumés dans le cimetière des Apaches. Perico était l'un des derniers apaches de Bedonkohe. Il a de nombreux descendants à travers ses enfants survivants.
