Combat infantry badge
The Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) is a United States Army military award. The badge is awarded to infantrymen and Special ForcesSoldiers in the rank of Colonel and below, who personally fought in active ground combat while assigned as members of either an infantry,Ranger or Special Forces unit, of brigade size or smaller, any time after 6 December 1941. The CIB and its non-combat contemporary, theExpert Infantryman Badge (EIB) were simultaneously created during World War II to enhance the morale and prestige of service in the infantry. Specifically, it recognizes the inherent sacrifices of all infantrymen, and that, in comparison to all other military occupational specialties, infantrymen face the greatest risk of being wounded or killed in action.
L'insigne d'infanterie de combat (CIB) est un prix militaire de l'armée américaine. L'insigne est décerné aux fantassins et aux soldats des forces spéciales au grade de colonel et ci-dessous, qui combattaient personnellement en combat terrestre actif alors qu'ils étaient membres d'une unité d'infanterie, de Rangers ou de forces spéciales, à partir du 6 décembre. 1941. Le CIB et son contemporain non combattant, l'Insigne de l'infanterie expert (EIB) ont été créés simultanément pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale pour améliorer le moral et le prestige du service dans l'infanterie. Plus précisément, il reconnaît les sacrifices inhérents à tous les fantassins et, par rapport à toutes les autres spécialités professionnelles militaires, les fantassins risquent le plus d'être blessés ou tués au combat.
